Butterfly Bakery of Vermont | Rum Barrel Fermented Smoked Jalapeno
Butterfly Bakery founder Claire Georges crafts exceptional hot sauces with ingredients sourced from local Vermont farmers. This incredibly special sauce highlights her dedication to natural produce and supporting her community. One of the more technique-driven hot sauces we’ve seen in a long time, its depth of flavor is surprising for a short ingredient list. Lester Farm red jalapenos are first smoked with maple wood, then aged in rum barrels from Vermont’s St. Johnsbury Distillery, where they ferment into smokey, oaky goodness. White vinegar, salt, and fresh jalapenos are all that’s needed to complete this surprisingly spicy sauce (5/10 is hot for jalapenos)! Try this pepper celebration on shakshuka eggs, stuffed sweet potatoes or - if you’re feeling adventurous - in a rum cocktail!
