Frequently Asked Questions

We help curate the lineup based on unique flavors and heat profiles to make the journey up Mt. Scoville an exciting, one-of-a-kind experience! The hot sauces are made by small-batch hot sauce makers who craft each hot sauce by hand. Each lineup features a range of ingredients, from sweet heat to tangy vinegar-based sauces and more.

Here at HEATONIST HQ / our tasting room in Brooklyn, we keep all open sauces refrigerated. Refrigerated sauces will taste better longer and will usually last around 8 months after opening!

In general, the more vinegar-forward a sauce, the less refrigeration needed. But in practice refrigeration always prolongs the life of the sauce, especially since the ones we curate are all-natural.

You can find the sauces we carry from the Hot Ones lineup at our Hot Ones page here! Here at HEATONIST, we only carry non-extract sauces without preservatives or extracts so no Da Bomb Beyond Insanity. Check out our all-natural collab with the folks who make Da Bomb

Because we work with small batch makers, we have sauces from the most recent lineups available in smaller packs that you can mix and match. If you want the current lineup, we offer the Warm Up and Heat packs and your choice of the Hot Ones Trio (from the Season of your choice). Everything in the same order will ship together!

We work with the most passionate small-batch hot sauce makers from around the world to source new, never-before-seen flavors. Each sauce is made carefully by hand by someone with a passion for spice - from a habanero farmer in Osaka, Japan, to a Honduran maker supporting local agriculture, to Smokin' Ed Currie, who creates the world's hottest peppers like Pepper X!

Here at HEATONIST, we work directly with awesome up-and-coming sauce makers to find sauces made with all-natural, responsibly-grown peppers and the freshest new flavor combinations.

Every hot sauce on our site is made in small batches with no artificial preservatives, dyes, gums, or extracts. Our focus is on flavor, and curating the best collection of sauces that taste great and pair well with food (crazy right? 😅).
