HOT ONES SEASON 21 REVEAL
Hey, what's going on hot ones fans? This is Sean Evans checking in to say “welcome back.” It's that time where we unveil the brand new hot Ones hot sauce lineup for Season 21. 21 Seasons, 21 lineups, can you believe it? I can't.
But first this season's hot sauce reveal is brought to you by Disney and Pixar's new film Elemental, an all new hilarious Adventure that explores the bond between fire and water two elements that are near and dear to our hearts here at Hot Ones. Check it out only in theaters on June 16th.
Now, in my experience, the summer time lineup is usually the hottest. We've shot a couple episodes this season, so I can tell you for certain it's hotter than Season 20.
But we're kicking things off with a familiar lead-off man: The Classic Chili Maple. The sauce is just too good to cordon off to fall. The sweet and just slightly spicy blend of real maple syrup and Fresno chilies, it just sets the table perfectly. The Classic Chili Maple Edition holds its spot as our table setter.
All right, moving on to sauce number two. We actually have a newcomer here out of Montreal, La Pimenterie, in the two spot. This is a newcomer to the hot ones table, but this sauce right here will remind you of the best Thai takeout you've ever had in your life with its aromatic blend of eggplant zucchini and long hot peppers. If you're someone who has trouble getting their veggies, hot sauce might be your answer and this sauce right here is the one.
All right, moving on to sauce number three. You see lemon pepper profile, [it] calls to mind Atlanta shout out to Lil Yachty (“Now this is the devil's snack”). But actually this sauce right here is straight out of Brooklyn. The Crabby Shack Zesty Lemon Pepper, a blend of Tangy tomatillo and lemon pepper usually served with seafood but it's actually also just amazing on wings. The Crabby Shack zesty lemon pepper here in the three spot.
And moving on, our favorite Hondurian sauce maker is back in the four spot, baby. Chile Lengua de Fuego combines earthy Chipotle and chocolate Ghost Pepper with ginger and raw sugar for a complex pretty damn spicy four spot sauce. Quick shout out to Coyote Peterson who actually sent me a video of him trying the Chile Lengua de Fuego sauces when he was in Honduras. Warmed my heart almost more than the hot sauce does. This is a very spicy number four spot. Every once in a while we have those, this is one of them.
All right moving on to sauce number five: a familiar name, Los Calientes, this time with the Rojo. At number five we have the sauce of summer's even hotter sibling Los Calientes Rojo I guess you could call them the disgusting brothers of the Hot Ones gauntlet except that they're actually just delicious. Sweet apricot mixes with fruity habaneros. Just the perfect flavor profile to serve as a bridge from the front half to the back half.
And in the back half we kicked things off with something serious. It's the spicy shark here in the sixth spot. The Spicy Shark’s Mako Snake sauce brings masala vibes with the 6 c’s: coconut, cumin, cinnamon, cardamom, coriander and caraway. But this sauce right here is not just a culinary delight - you have ghost peppers in here. You have Carolina Reaper in here. This is a very hot number six. In the words of Seth Rogen, “not famous person hot, just hot-hot” and it lets our guests know right away that we are not messing around here in the back half. A hot number six that goes into a hot number seven…
Here we have a return of Hot Ones hot sauce lineup royalty Adoboloco. That one's hot sauce lineup royalty, Hawaiian hot sauce royalty, Adoboloco Jalapeno Chico. I've eaten a lot of Adoboloco sauces in my life. This one right here by far the hottest super-smoky jalapeno and Scorpion pepper blend. Not to be messed with!
And then of course it just sets the table for the bomb Beyond Insanity. The Immortal Da Bomb Beyond Insanity continues. It's Cal Ripken Jr-like consecutive game streak here in the 8th spot. The sauce that launched a thousand I apologize Kansas memes is back for its 20th season and here's a fun tease for you: the season 21 premiere features a guest who is from Kansas City. The same place where Da Bomb Beyond Insanity is made. Let the guesses start!
Alright, moving on to number nine and if you clocked it when you checked in here and you thought to yourself, “a watermelon hot sauce? that sounds weird…” I have news for you: it is. Yet it's somehow the perfect number nine sauce providing fleeting relief with a super refreshing hit of watermelon and then delivering a hammer fist from the gods with ghost pepper.
Alright, moving on to number 10. The iconic 10-spot sauce that I know my Elemental buddies Ember Wade Gail and Claude are excited for… The Last Dab Apollo! It feels like we should be having a toast to celebrate 21 Seasons, but the only bottles that we pop around here are woozies of The Last Dab Apollo for those who are brave enough and reckless enough to go there. Again, you don't have to if you don't want to.
Alright there you have it! It's the Season 21 Hot Ones hot sauce lineup. If you'd like to play along at home you know the drill by now: heatonist.com heatonist.com that’s heatonist.com to get your hands on the Season 21 Hot Ones hot sauce lineup.
Buckle up because Hot Ones Season 21 premieres next week. I know Ember and Wade will be tuning in and I'll be checking out Disney and Pixar's new film Elemental in theaters June 16th.
Season 20 [was] one of my proudest achievements in the history of the show. From this side of the table, [it] just felt like the perfect season where the balls bounced their way and it came together so perfectly. I am really looking forward to riding that momentum into Season 21. See you next week!
